Epworth-Euclid UMC Celebrates Another Historic Event

The Rev. Dr. William McCartney and Bishop Judy Craig ready for worship

On Sunday, November 8, reminiscent of days gone by, the morning worship service at Epworth-Euclid United Methodist Church was shared by Bishop Judy Craig and the Rev. Dr. William A. McCartney. During the 70’s Epworth-Euclid was under the leadership of The Rev. McCartney who served as pastor from 1971-1981 and Judy Craig who served as Director of Education from 1970–1976. It was Dr. McCartney who first suggested to Bishop Craig that she consider going to seminary—and as they say in the movies—the rest is history.

Besides this joyful special reunion, November 8 was also the day that Epworth-Euclid and First United Methodist Churches voted to unite in the new University Circle UMC. The votes were strongly in favor with First Church voting 166 for, 28 against, 1 abstention; Epworth-Euclid Church voting 72 for, 2 against.

Don’t miss the Choir’s annual Advent oratorio on Sunday, December 13 during the 11 AM worship service. This year’s presentation will be “Gloria” by Antonio Vivaldi featuring soloists, chorus and organ. Music of the season …glory be to God!
